John Deacey was appointed the mangager in DEC 2007
MANAGER: JOHN DEACEY
John has vast non-league playing and coaching experience, after starting out at Middlesbrough as a youngster.
John was originally brought to the club as assistant manager by former manager Martin Haresign. When Haresign left in 2003, John was kept on by new manager Lee Sinnott. Sinnott then went onto to achieve three promotions in four years culminating with promotion to the Blue-Square Premier with John at his side.
When Sinnott left to take over the manager’s position at Port Vale in November 2007, John appointed the club’s caretaker manager. John subsequently applied for the job permanently and was appointed in December 2007. His first game as the permanent boss was against Gateshead in the FA Trophy.
ASSISTANT MANAGER: NEIL PARSLEY
Neil was originally brought to the club to help caretaker manager John Deacey in November 2007. When Deacey was appointed the permanent manager, Neil was appointed the club’s assistant manager.
Neil has a considerable amount of experience at professional and non-league level having played for Leeds United, West Brom, Doncaster Rovers and Huddersfield Town amongst others.
He ended his playing career with local rivals Guiseley and became the club’s manager in 2000. He had six successful years with them and during that time his team won the West Riding Cup.
Neil left in October 2006 and soon found an opportunity elsewhere. Within three months he had took the reins at Unibond Premier side North Ferriby United. His task was to secure their Premier status for another season. He did so with good run of results towards the end of the season.
Things didn’t work at Ferriby and he left a month before joining the Celts.
COACH/GOALKEEPING COACH: GARY STOKES
An administrator and entertainer, 46-year-old ‘Minty’ or ‘Gazza’ is a valuable member of the coaching staff. He has been with the club for five years and has coached at both professional and non-league level with Bradford City, Nottingham Forest, Guiseley and Thackley. Gary is responsible for all goalkeeper coaching.
