The best way to keep up to date with Farsley Celtic FC

Preview: Farsley Celtic vs Knaresborough Town (10/10/17)

9 months ago By Thomas Ritchie

Farsley Celtic begin the defence of their West Riding County Cup title as they welcome Knaresborough Town to Throstle Nest.

Last season Farsley were victorious in this competition after defeating Tadcaster Albion on penalties in the final, following a 1-1 draw at the i2i Stadium. Last season Knaresborough fell at the first hurdle as they were defeated 3-0 by Evo-Stik Division 1 North side Goole AFC.

Farsley head into the game full of confidence after winning three consecutive games for the first time this season. The Celts have bounced back superbly from disappointing defeats to Altrincham and Barwell with impressive victories over Marine (2-1), Coalville Town (3-2) and Nantwich Town (2-0) which has seen them sit in 4th place in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division. Richard Marshall will be a doubt for Farsley after missing Saturday's win over Nantwich, however the game will give Adam Lakeland the chance to look at his squad and rest some players ahead of Saturday's trip to Lancaster. Ahead of the game Adam Lakeland said "We may rest a couple, but we will field a strong team and try to keep our winning run going before we go into a tough game in the league this coming Saturday at Lancaster City."

Knaresborough Town have been in terrific form this season and are currently top of the NCEL Division 1, three division below Farsley. Knaresborough are unbeaten in all competitions this season, conceding just five goals in 14 league games and scoring 31. Blaine Hobson is the Knaresborough danger man, with eight league goals so far. Knaresborough enter this game following back-to-back 4-0 wins at home over Brigg Town and FC Bolsover, with Colin Heath scoring a superb hat-trick in Saturday's win over Bolsover.

The game takes place at Throstle Nest, postcode LS28 5BE. Kick-off is at 7.45pm and admission prices are just £8 adults, £5 concessions and £1 U16s. See you there!
