Despite a terrific display by Evo stick Division 1 North young player of the year Tom Taylor Warrington struck gold and sealed a penalty shoot-out win to earn the Doodson Sports Cup.
Farsley had the first chance of the game when Lewis Nightingale cut along the dead-ball line before having his effort well saved by Karl Wills. Just after the half hour mark Warrington had their first clear cut opportunity when Louis Corrigan's curling free-kick was brilliantly tipped over by Taylor.
Early on in the second half Louis Corrigan's free-kick was allowed to bounce by the Farsley defence and Taylor had to scramble it wide. Shortly after Taylor was called into action once again as he tipped Steven Tames' effort brilliantly away. After a penalty box scramble Gerard Kinsella was certain to score before Tom Taylor once again saved from point blank range. Just after the hour Steven Tames threatened again however Taylor managed to make another top class save. Following a corner the ball bobbled about in the box and Taylor showed great reactions to claw the ball off the line. With time running out Farsley started to threaten, however they failed to create any clear cut opportunities. With no extra-time the game went straight to penalties and misses from Spencer Harris, Andy Welsh and Aiden Savory proved crucial as Chris Gangan struck the winning penalty to send the Wires fans into raptures.
