Farsley Celtic are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Bobby Jones on loan from Wigan Athletic.

Following the injury sustained to Josh Barnes on Saturday, the club have moved quickly to find a replacement ahead of tonight’s fixture with Kidderminster.

Jones has regularly featured for Wigan’s U18 and U23 sides since joining the club in 2018, and has also played for the Republic of Ireland at the U18 and U19 levels.

The 18-year-old shot-stopper will go straight into the squad for this evening’s fixture at the Citadel.

Farsley boss Adam Lakeland commented on the acquisition, as he said: “Following the injury to Josh on Saturday, I felt we needed to bring someone in to cover us for the Kidderminster game.

“Bobby comes very highly recommended and I’d like to thank Wigan Athletic, in particular Nick Chadwick, for allowing Bobby to join us at short notice. I’m sure he will do great for us.

“We do have a very capable, reliable and dependable backup in Mark Bower, who was tremendous when coming on at the weekend, and who will continue to give us cover wherever needed.

“Josh (Barnes) has been given the all clear for the Gloucester game which is a real positive for us.”

Everyone at Farsley would like to give Bobby a warm welcome to the club.
