Young shot-stopper Elliot Wynne has joined Northern Premier League Division One North West side Droylsden on a one month loan.

After the arrival at The Citadel of fellow goalkeeper Josh Barnes from Derby County on loan, Celts boss Adam Lakeland has made the decision to make sure 22-year-old Wynne can continue his progression.

Speaking about Wynne’s loan deal, Lakeland said: “Following my decision to bring Josh in from Derby, I felt it was in the best interests of Elliott to go out and continue getting time on the pitch.

“He is a great lad and a very good goalkeeper, but unfortunately the nature of plying your trade in goal is that when you make an error it usually ends up being costly and there have been a few of those throughout the course of the season.

“That said, there have also been a number of games where Elliott has made unbelievable saves and played particularly well. However I feel that to enable him to keep developing and to continue building his confidence, he needs to play and with Josh coming in that wasn’t going to happen here at this moment in time.

“I’m sure he will do brilliantly at Droylsden and we will see him come back even stronger for the experience.”

Farsley Celtic wishes Elliot the best during his loan spell with the East Manchester club.
